Stayed at these apartments several times and wants to come back again! Excellent location, well equipped. View of the sea and the old town. A wonderful little garden in which the turtles lives. Very hospitable owners. They gave us all the information about events, beaches and restaurants.

Look no further, your search for stunning accommodation, convivial and kind host and superb location is over.... Pavo and his family are marvelous hosts and their apartment is beautifully equipped, with little touches that take it beyond most other apartments we have stayed in. The apartment has a large terrace ideal for summertime breakfast or evening meals, as well as a sweet garden inhabited by three small tortoises, fed every morning by sea Captain Pavo,who is kindness personified. The apartment is no more than three minutes walk from the city gate and is close to bars, supermarkets and bakery. You will have to search long and hard to find a better choice of holiday accommodation and owner. Nothing was too much trouble from the kindly provision of fruit, drinks and snacks on our arrival to the strong helping hand with our bags from son Dino on our departure. Pavo and family should be anyones first port of call when visiting Dubrovnik.

From start to finish, our 10-day stay at the Nives Apartment was First Class.

1. Location: it's a 3-4 minute walk to the main entrance to the Old City, with relatively few steps up to a private entrance to the apartment through the quaint back garden. Being located just outside of the Old City is a blessing when you want to get away from the regular crowds (particularly when the cruise ships offload their passengers during the day). It's a quick bus ride or nice walk to the rest of the city. The location is peaceful and quiet without being removed. Perfect.

2. Our host, Pavo, was hospitable, amiable, and invaluable. Having met us upon arrival, Pavo provided a thorough introduction to Dubrovnik (not to mention sharing some of his homebrewed Rose liqueur!). He provided us a briefing on what to see, the best places to eat and enjoy a drink, how to get around in the city and the local islands. He even worked with a local dive operator in Cavtat to arrange our diving excursions. His intimate local knowledge accrued from having lived in the area his entire life and involvement in the community was invaluable to us - no time or money wasted on trial and error, Pavo was an excellent guide to the city.

3. The apartment itself is quaint - immaculate, amazing views, a private peaceful garden with grapes growing in a trellis above a private deck on which we spent much time relaxing. All of the amenities are there: kitchen, laundry, internet and satellite tv (not that we used either!), comfortable double bed. The apartment is perfectly situated to take advantage of the fresh Adriatic breezes that meant a freshingly peaceful sleep each night. Located at the top of their home, the apartment was private and quiet. The only downside was that we occasionally bumped our heads on the sloped ceilings.

Overall, our experience at Nives was excellent and we certainly recommend it.
